Abraham’s Offering of Isaac
Genesis 22:1: Abraham was always available to God. Abraham was a “Friend of God” (James 2:23 and Isaiah 41:8).
Genesis 22:2: God wanted Abraham’s only Son. (His only Son that was left) (Genesis 21:9-14). God gave up Hisonly Son.
Genesis 22:3&4: With three days to think it through, Abraham knew that God would raise Isaac back up (Hebrews 11:17-19 and Psalm 92:15).
Genesis 22:5: Abraham’s servants would have stoppedhim (II Corinthians 5:7).
Genesis 22:6 and 7: A Picture of Christ carrying His own cross.
Genesis 22:8 and 9: Another Picture of Christ (John 1:29). Completely obedient to His Father’s will (Like Christ – Mark 14:35-36).
Genesis 22:10: Abraham is a Picture of God (Romans 8:32). God gave us His only Son (John 3:16).
Genesis 22:11 and 12: True faith holds nothing back(Mark 12:41-44).
Genesis 22:13 and 14: A ram without spot or blemishcaught by its’ horns
(I Peter 1:18 and 19). The lamb provided as a vicarious offering in place of Isaac (Hebrews 2:9). Only the death of a Heaven-sent Lamb was sufficient as full payment for the multitude of sin (Romans 3:24 and 25).
A Wonderful Picture of Christ (I Peter 1:9-12)
