Following Christ Through the Storms
Matthew 8:23: Once saved we are all called to follow after Christ (Matthew 10:38 and I Corinthians 11:1).
Matthew 8:24: Following Christ does not guarantee peace, tranquility, or prosperity (Matthew 10:34-36 and Matthew 8:18-20).
Matthew 8:25: Many are shocked when trouble and adversity accompany a commitment to Christ (John 15:18-20). We should expect adversity (I John 3:13) from Satan (II Corinthians 4:3 and 4).
Matthew 8:26 and 27: Christ will see us through. Christ can calm any and all storms (Romans 10:1).
The true test of our own faith is not if we will follow Christ into the sunshine. The real test of our faith is if we are willing to follow Christ into the storms.
God will allow us a life preserver (Ephesians 6:11), but He still calls us to follow Him, even into the very eye of the storm.
