Our Responsibility as Watchmen
Bible Text: Ezekiel 33:1-9 | Speaker: Pastor James Zaebst | Ezekiel 33:1-3: God’s people are God’s designated watchmen. It is up to us to warn people of the horror awaiting those who fail to trust Christ as Savior before it’s too late (Luke 16:19-26). We must warn the world of the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:11-15).
Ezekiel 33:4 and 5: If someone fails to heed our warning, the failure and responsibility is theirs alone. We can lead a horse to water, but we can’t make them drink. But we must lead them to water (Romans 10:13 and 14, and II Corinthians 5:18-21).
Ezekiel 33:6-9: If people die lost because we have just completely failed to warn them, then the fault and the blame is on us for our failure as watchmen. The lost in this world are truly at our mercy. God’s people are never to cower in fear (Deuteronomy 11:24 and 25). And we are never to hide under a bushel basket (Matthew 5:14-16).
What kind of a watchman are we?
Are we watching out for those around us?
Or, are we asleep at our post (Proverbs 23:34)?
