Temptation

Passage: I Corinthians 10: 12 and 13
Service Type:

I Corinthians 10:12: We must never let our guard down!
Any believer can fall into serious sin if they are not very
careful.
This is due to who and what we are (Job 15:14-16 and 25:4-6).
Don’t think for a moment that you are the one good one
(Ecclesiastes 7:20).
There are no good ones (Romans 3:10).

With this in mind we must battle our sin nature (Romans 7:23).
Only Christ Himself can deliver us from “this body of death”
(Romans 7:24).
Only at the Rapture can we put on “incorruption”
(I Corinthians 15:53).
Until then we have a fight on our hands between the old and
new man.

I Corinthians 10:13: All mankind is tempted to sin.
Though we are not tempted by the same sins we are all tempted.
Being tempted does not mean you have to give in!
God provides an escape plan (II-Timothy 2:22 and
Galatians 5:16).

The Bible is full of examples of people resisting temptation
and of people just giving in to temptation.

In Genesis 39:6-12: Joseph flees from sins temptation.

In II-Samuel 11:1-17: David just gives in to temptation.

Both men had a way out! Only Joseph took it.
“Let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.”
